Tense Log 2.0 beta 2 available September 1st!

I’ve managed to make excellent progress with Tense Log, and I’ll be making the next beta version available on September 1st. This version will be very close to complete, with little else to do but find bugs and squash them.

Above you can get a peek at the new help system. I think this is a huge improvement over the popup window I had before. This way the walkthrough is always right next to the page, and you can still flip through it without interrupting what you’re doing (thanks to AJAX and XMLHttpRequest). Even better, the help section slides down the page as you scroll, so it never goes missing. The tool tips are also greatly improved, and now appear in the same help window. It was a bit obnoxious before to have them always popping up under the pointer, often in the way of what you were doing.

Another big feature I’ve just added is the ability to import categories, posts, links, and comments from WordPress. Hopefully this will convince some new people to give Tense Log a shot! You can even import from multiple WordPress installations into a single Tense Log installation. If this feature is popular I hope to add support for other blog systems in the future, like Movable Type and Textpattern.

I’ve also made an improvement to the comment spam system that lets you update your filter list with the click of a button. This way you can take advantage of the tweaks I’ve made without having to wait for the next version of Tense Log.

Stop by Tense Code on September 1st to check it all out!
