Leopard + Delivery Status users, please note…

Delivery Status 4.0 has just been released. Older versions will not automatically notify you of this or any other future updates because of a bug in the version checking. Please make sure to download this update manually, and let your friends know! Sorry for the troubles.

This update is one of the biggest in a while, and I put a lot of work into it. Aside from fixing a lot of services you may have had problems with, I’ve added a lot of new features to make it nicer to use. Adding your own item names and custom Growl icons may seem like small things, but I think they really add a lot. The reworked history also makes it far easier to look up past deliveries.

I hope you like it!

is there any way I can get rid of the ‘sessions has timed out’ message when clicking on the apple in the apple by zip delivery?
How come that the widget is able to get the current status but when I click on the apple a web page opens that does not display what I was looking for?

i have to enter my informaition in the form on apples page again in order to get the current order status. Isn’t this avoidable?

Thanks

Here’s what happens: when the widget connects, it logs in, creating a new session. If you click the Apple logo to visit the site immediately after that, it will work fine. But if you wait too long—more than half an hour—the session will time out.

So, if you update the widget manually (click the last line of text) before you click the logo, then it should work every time.

First of all, thank you for this nice and useful widget.

Would you mind to add Coliposte (http://coliposte.net/) and even EMS (Hong Kong Post) support in a future version?

I’ll put them on my list of possible additions. I try to add the most popular requests eventually.

Excellent widget - thanks for pursuing.

But: Why does the archive extract to an installer, rather than simply the widget, which the user could double-click to install themselves? The extra level of indirection doesn’t appear to be necessary - or desirable…

The installer explains why the "Smart Upgrade" option is available.

If you have several copies of a widget open, and you install a widget normally, OS X will insist on closing them (for no good reason). With Delivery Status in particular it can be pretty frustrating to have to open all the deliveries you were tracking again. The installer works around this when you choose the "Smart Upgrade" option. It installs the widget manually and the restarts Dashboard for you. The new version is installed and none of the deliveries you were tracking are lost.

I’m hoping Apple will give users (or at least developers) more control over the widget installation process in the future. But in the meantime, the Delivery Status Installer makes things much easier for a lot of people.

Update: It just occurred to me that you probably didn’t see the upgrade option because you were installing the widget for the first time. In that case the installer just triggers the normal OS X widget installation process, so the whole thing is seamless.

Great widget Mike. One of my favorites and I’ve told many friends about it. I just had a crazy idea. Can you somehow get information from Netflix? It would be great to see what I have out and what’s being "delivered" next.

Netflix is on my list of possible additions! Any site that requires a login takes an extra amount of effort, but I’m definitely considering it.

EMS (Hong Kong Post) would be great!

I shop at dealextreme.com and a widget who could track my packages would be just perfect. I think there are a lot of people how would appreciate and use your widget with an option for EMS :)

How do I delete the delivery-info widget when I’m thru with it, or if I open too many unused ones? The instructions from Apple Help doesn’t work or apply.

Great widget, very helpful, but I have about 14 of them on my dashboard page now.

Thanks for your efforts and creativity.

Tom, please see the help page.

Ruben, Hong Kong Post EMS is on my list. I can’t make any promises but I’ll most likely add them at some point.

Hi Mike,

First, I just want to say that I love Delivery Status; I use it just about every day.

Second, I wanted to ask you how you approached your Amazon status feature. Do you use Amazon FWS (or another of their web services) to get order information, or some screen-scraping method? The reason I ask is that I think Amazon’s order status page’s design sucks (especially for frequent customers like me), and am thinking of writing a little app to present the data in a more useful fashion. The documentation for FWS does not seem to suggest that you can do what I’m looking for, but I thought I’d ask if you knew.

Thanks in advance!

Richa, I’m just doing screen scraping… a little complicated since it requires a login and cookies. Unfortunately I’m not aware of a proper web service for this either.

Your contacts page seems to be screwed up.
It doesn’t work

I love delivery status. I always have my orders open in delivery status on a second monitor so that I can check them at a glance.

What I was going to ask you was if you could add the status of Swiss Post to Delivery Status.

The Page lokks like this:
www.post.ch/EasyTrack/su…=99.42.168028.20414305#

Thanks
