Delivery Status 3.2 beta: lots of little fixes + DHL Germany

Note: This beta is no longer available. Please see here for the latest release!

Here’s what’s new in this version:

  • Added support for DHL Germany
  • Improved DHL US tracking (certain estimates weren’t showing up)
  • Improved Growl checking
  • Fixed an error in the Japanese translation (it said hours instead of days… sorry for any confusion!)
  • Added a new loading image (loading is much more elegant now, especially if you have a bunch of small widgets close together)
  • The default size is now slightly wider (to match the back side and show more information)
  • Adjusted FedEx logo

If you have a chance to try it out, please let me know how it works for you! Especially if you have a DHL Germany delivery you can test with.

Update: I’ve put up a new version with some improvements for DHL Germany. The main thing I need to test for at this point is whether the it correctly displays as “Delivered!” (“Geliefert”) on the second status line when the shipment has been delivered.

Another update: I’ve decided to sneak a couple more features into this version:

  • You can now hover the mouse over a long status message to see the entire message
  • Growl messages are no longer displayed in all caps

This update affects all of the services, as it required changing a lot of little bits of code in many places. Please help me check anything you can, and let me know if something seems off!

This is just a neat idea, and you did a fantastic job with it. It looks great on the dashboard and gives just the right amount of info, just how widgets are supposed to work.

(And sorry for the chintzy donation; that was exactly the amount I had left over in my paypal account).

No need to apologize, I appreciate it! If a lot of people make small donations it can really add up.

great widget, but when i updated to the latest version, it closed all my open deliver status widgets and didn’t reopen them again. please allow the widget to save its state. thanks.

I’m sorry for the trouble, Roger, but unfortunately I have absolutely no control over this behavior. It is Apple’s decision. When you install a new version, you will see a warning if it’s going to close your open widgets. If you see this warning, click Cancel and then follow these instructions to update the widget without closing your open widgets.

I found this widget via The Unofficial Apple Weblog and I really love it. It’s very clean and tracks so many different things. The only feature I would request is the ability to track a package’s location beyond it’s current location. For example, I can see that a package on the way via UPS’ current status is "Departure Scan Knoxville, TN US". I can see the date of the status update, which is great, but not the time of the update. Also, there is no way to see it’s previous status conditions without going to the tracking website. MonkeyBusinessLabs makes a tracking widget that displays both of these, but I am not fond of the interface. This widget is much nicer, and would go from awesome to perfect if it had these features as options. I know, I am a bit of a micro-managing control freak, needing to know the EXACT location of my packages. I wish they had GPS…

First time user and it’s working great for me. Any chance that newegg order status is in the cards?

I absoultely love your Widget!!! It is exactly what I was looking for. I have a question though, and it may be dumb but, is there any way of tracking more than 1 package from different shipping companies? It probablly does do this, I just don’t know how. Thanks and keep up the great work! I also like the idea with the Newegg thing as I have one now being shipped to me… he he he! <><

Ok, forget my previous comment except for the praise about the widget, I figured it out… Duhhhh me… You just need to add another one through the widget manager. Thanks again for such a great widget. I would like to add that, it would be cool if you could add the actual projected date of delivery as indicated by the shipping sites, it would be a great additive! Thanks… <><

Mike: I will probably not add so much information, simply because of the amount of space it would take up, but I’ll certainly keep your feedback in mind. Displaying times is a possibility in the future.

Jon: NewEgg is definitely a possibility.

Steven: Could you explain what you mean by “the actual projected date of delivery as indicated by the shipping sites”? It should display, unless I’m misunderstanding. If you wouldn’t mind sharing your tracking number I’ll be happy to take a closer look.

Glad you all like the widget!
