iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad
Delivery Status touch (for iPhone and iPod touch) is complete—I sent it off to Apple last night. Hopefully it will appear in the App Store next week, but don’t be surprised if it takes longer. It will be available initially for an introductory price of $1.99, so I recommend grabbing it quickly if you’re interested! Keep an eye on the site, as I’ll be posting an update when it’s available.

Above you can see how the Delivery Status icon progressed from sketch to finished design.
While working on Delivery Status touch (for iPhone and iPod touch) it was clear I needed a new icon. The old “18 days” icon I’ve used for the Dashboard widget was just something I threw together quickly. I never spent much time on it because it isn’t seen terribly often, and I couldn’t justify spending a lot of extra time on a free widget that already sucks up a lot of work hours. A lot of Tiger users have had problems with my Smart Widget Installer. I’ve become much more comfortable writing apps in Cocoa over the past several weeks so I decided it was time I gave this one an overhaul. Previously it was written entirely in AppleScript, which can be somewhat unreliable. Here’s what’s new:

I just had to share this for any other Mac users that care. I’d been opening up Special Characters in the Edit menu for years until I finally stumbled across this keyboard combination, which is odd because I’d swear I checked Key Caps for any possible combination long ago. With all the talk about iPhone apps right now, I figure it’s time to make an official announcement. I can’t share a lot of details at the moment, but I am working on a version of Delivery Status for the iPhone (and iPod touch), and I hope to make it available in the next few months. I plan to support most of the services that are available in the widget, with the exception of Amazon and Google Checkout. (Hopefully I can find a way to get those working in a future version.)
