Delivery Status and Save for Web Updated!

My Delivery Status Dashboard widget and Save for Web Automator action have been updated. This Delivery Status update will once again work with Apple store orders, I’ve added support for tracking TNT shipments, and there are quite a few little refinements as well. The Save for Web update fixes a couple of small bugs.

Please note: If you’re getting a “couldn’t connect” error while trying to check an Apple store order with Delivery Status, it’s Apple’s site that is broken, not my widget! Their order status page has been offline for much of the past few days, and the widget cannot check your status while it’s down. If you’re having any other problems, please let me know!

It’s working now with Apple Store !
2 things :
I have an order with 2 items. It used to show a little number, allowing to choose which item we wanted to display on the widget. It’s not anymore. The Appe Store only show the first item of the list on a same order number.
Then the big number of days remaining on the left part of the widget doesn’t show !!
Here’s the widget with Amazon.fr :

And here’s the Apple Store one :

Only the 1st item appear (Apple Care Protection Plan)

Same problem here. My Apple Store order has two parts, that ship seperately, and it’s the 2nd one that I’m most interested in. Thanks for adding the zip code functionality back though.

My Applestore order has only one item. With this version of the wiget, I do not get the "delivered by: information.
This info is present on the Apple site. I guess this little bits still needs to be updated

That’s true, I get "Delivered by UNKNOWN" too. I remember last week, I got "Delivered by NOV 11".

Thanks everyone for your feedback. Apple’s order status page changed drastically, so I had to redo all of my work. I did my best but I’m not surprised there are some orders not displaying correctly. I’ve emailed each of you—if you can assist I’ll get the problems fixed in the next version!

Just tried your widget and apparently, clicking on any of the icons for the various tracking companies takes me to Amazon.com. Once that’s fixed, this will make an amazingly useful widget.

Joe, that one stumped me for a bit, but then I realized—that will happen if you don’t enter anything on the back! I assume that’s what you’ve done? If not please let me know. I’ll have it fixed in the next version.

Now that the first item in my order (Recycling Fee for Alberta Canada) is listed as completed I can now view the second item in my order (Mac Book Pro). The delivered by field shows as unknown though.

Thierry wrote on November 6, 2006:

I just understood why the big number with the days remaining on the left does not display : because the widget shows "Delivered by UNKNOWN": no date, no countdown.
The Apple Store Order Status page displays correctly the delivery date though (Nov. 14th)…
Apple gave you hard work to do these days with all these changes, Mike :D

I’ve made a change so the next version will count down until the shipping date if there is no delivery estimate. It actually used to work that way but it got broken at some point and I hadn’t realized it!

I’ve also fixed all the bugs everyone has reported—I think the Apple store tracking is very solid now. The French and Italian localizations have been added as well.

I’ve downloaded Save For Web but can’t see what to do with it. there are no instructions.

Mike Piontek wrote on November 7, 2006:

Sorry for the confusion Bill. Here are instructions on installing an Automator action, and creating a Finder plug-in with it. Hopefully in the future, double-clicking an Automator action will install it and open Automator for you—it seems strange to me that Apple didn’t set it up that way! You’re right though, I probably ought to add some instructions to the download.

Any chance of adding support for Canada Post? Otherwise, I love the litle widget to pieces.

Support for Canada Post is a definite possibility in the future. I can’t make any guarantees just yet, but I’ll see what I can do!

I second the request for Canada Post.

If you could add support for Mac users north of the boarder, we’d really appreciate it. Thanks Mike.

Canada Post support is currently in beta and will be available soon! Support for the Adobe online store (US and Canada) is also being added. I’m anxious to get my CS3 order, and I’m sure a lot of other people are too!
