Compatibility with iOS 8

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Overall our apps seem to work fine on iOS 8.
  • If you use iCloud syncing in either of our apps, and you need to sync with a Mac or a device with an older version of iOS, you should not enable iCloud Drive when you’re prompted. Once you enable iCloud Drive, a device with iOS 8 will only be able to sync with other devices that have iOS 8. (And the OS X Yosemite beta if you happen to have that installed.) If necessary you can always switch to Junecloud Sync to sync between all of your devices.
  • There is a bug in iOS 8.0 that affects Delivery Status notifications. If your device is restarted or your battery runs out, you’ll have to manually open the app once to start getting background notifications again. Apple is aware of this problem and working on a fix.
  • We are working hard on a major update to Delivery Status that will take full advantage of (and require) iOS 8, as well as the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. It shouldn’t take too much longer.
  • We are also planning on a Notefile update at some point, though again the app should work fine as it is.
  • iOS 8 is fantastic and allows apps to do some incredible new things.

I assume that a widget for the notification center showing todays/tomorrows deliveries will be including in this update?

Your work is absolutely amazing. Love the app both on my iOS Devices and Mac OS. Please add notification center widget for iOS, that would be fantastic.

Should we expert Notefile to be updated for the iPhone 6 soon? Zoomed view isn't optimal.

Phil: Finishing up Deliveries 6 for iOS and Deliveries for the Mac App Store has been pretty overwhelming, but I have good news: I just started putting together a Notefile update, and it should be easier than I expected. It still needs some cleaning up and testing, but I'll get it out as soon as possible—hopefully I can get it submitted to Apple next week.

Not sure if you see it, but I keep getting a .5 second long approve/deny dialog on iOS asking to use calendar, I have already allowed it and it it set to allow in the setting window. Hope to see the update soon!

JT: I haven't seen that but I'll look into it. I suspect it's an iOS bug so you might have to wait for 8.1 for a fix. If it's frustrating and you can live without the calendar option for a bit, you can turn it off: tap the gear icon, then notifications, and set “add to calendar” to none.

Deliveries is no longer syncing via iCloud (I have Yosemite so I use the new iCloud Drive…of course, this doesn't affect any Mac OS X app).

Presumably needs an app-specific password for users using two-step authentication, but there is no where to enter one.

What is your advice? Will this be resolved with the next version?

Byron - I'd use a JuneCloud account to sync - working fine on iOS8/Yosemite.

So when's the notification center update coming? Apple has been touting another tracking app that has notification center widget since the day iOS 8 was released.. Been a month now and still no update. :(

Is there an ETA on update for iOS 8 compatibility? Really looking forward to the notification widget and the iPhone 6 UI.

Never the less thanks for all the great work, the Yosemite App works great. I do have one question however. Is there anyway for when have “Hide Icon” for the icon not to flash before opening the Main UI? Perhaps this is unavoidable with the way the app was written!

Thanks,

Cody

Using the iOS app to save to Evernote using the share extension produces some weird behaviour. The note shows up when you view it in the Evernote app on iOS but does not appear in the Mac app nor the website version of Evernote. Is this an issue with iOS 8 or Evernote itself? Thanks!

Byron: Our coming updates should fix most iCloud problems, and Apple is working on updates (iOS 8.1.1 and OS X 10.10.1) that will fix some other iCloud issues.

Will, Martin, and Cody: Deliveries 6.0 will be submitted to Apple tomorrow. (Along with an update to the Mac app, and updates to both versions of Notefile.)

Cody: Not currently, but I'll see if I can do anything to improve this in the future.

Jonathan: I'd recommend contacting Evernote. When you use a share extension, the app you're using it basically just supplies some content, and it's up to the extension to do anything with it. If it shows up in their iOS app then everything worked fine on our end.

Mike: Thanks so much for the feedback and quick reply. Considering I do most of my Evernote work on mobile this isn't a huge problem. The problem is getting actual support from Evernote.

Looking forward to the upcoming updates. Congrats on such a wonderful set of products you develop!
