Delivery Status for Mac 5.3 beta 4

Update: This beta is now closed, thanks for your help!

New in this version:

  • Favorites: you can now star the services you use most to move them to the top of the list. (Requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later.)
  • Smart updating: completed deliveries update less often, and shipments arriving soon update more often.
  • Smarter notifications: If you’re actively using Dashboard, you won’t get needless Push Notifications or Growl notifications anymore.
  • Improved support for Poste Italiane and TNT Post Netherlands. Added support for Apple Hong Kong.
  • Improved mapping for some locations.
  • Syncs more often when Dashboard is in use.
  • Improved error handling for services like Amazon and Apple where information is gathered from multiple sources. If the page with detailed tracking information doesn’t load, it’s now treated as a “couldn’t connect” error. This should cut down greatly on errant notifications.
  • Adding an “Other” item from the history will now include the date.
  • Fixed a bug where very long push notifications would not go through.
  • Fixed a problem with Safari 5 installed where pressing Return or Enter while editing a delivery would do nothing.
  • The history will now keep a minimum of 25 items.
  • There is now a hidden setting to disable the tooltips that show delivery details. Enter this in Terminal on one line, then press return:
    defaults write widget-com.mikepiontek.widget.deliverystatus disabletooltips 1; killall Dock;
    To turn the tooltips back on, enter:
    defaults delete widget-com.mikepiontek.widget.deliverystatus disabletooltips; killall Dock;

New in beta 2:

  • Deliveries more than 10 days away will update more often (every 3 hours instead of every 6).
  • Fixed a problem with OnTrac.

New in beta 3:

  • DHL US has been changed to DHL Express, and supports tracking deliveries from around the world.
  • Fixed problems with Posten Norway and US Postal Service.
  • All localizations have been updated, so text related to favorites should be translated correctly.

New in beta 4:

  • Fixed a minor bug when logging out.
  • Improved Apple Hong Kong.

I love the UI adjustments! Shame it only shows my un-shipped delivery :-( cl.ly/4869153c631ccce4b1f8

Any plans to add support for Ensenda? Amazon is starting to use it a lot!

If Amazon keeps using them we’ll probably add them eventually. In the meantime, if you select Amazon for the company and enter your order number, you’ll get all the same info once the item ships.

Love the new interface - it’d be great if you could sync the favorite delivery services between copies of the widget…
