Echo Magazine Spreads by Mike Piontek

January 1, 2000

Selected spreads from a music magazine called Echo. From the magazine’s mission statement: “The echo is in the dialogue between music, those that make it, and those that listen: the sound made by these reflections. The goal of this magazine is to strengthen that reflection, to provide a forum for that dialogue. Music does not happen in an instrument or in the ear, in note or in rest. It happens somewhere in the middle. In the echo.”

Michigan Theatre Identity by Mike Piontek

January 1, 1998

This student project was an attempt to capture in print the essence of the Michigan Theatre in Ann Arbor, MI, a movie house that specializes in independent and foreign films. Shown here are the letterhead, a business card, and an envelope. I started this project by photographing the theatre itself. The photos were then manipulated in Photoshop, printed, and given a worn effect using the process of Xerox transfer.
